About Me

- As the son of an Afro-Brazilian mother and an Eastern-European-New Yorker father, my upbringing has been unconventional but filled with international fortune. Growing up between the congested, Afroreggae-infused streets of Bahia, Brazil, and the quiet, mountainous la-la-land of Ashland, OR has made for a stirring contrast. As a result, I seek to broaden my worldview by stretching my language skills, enjoying nature, and forging engaging global friendships as I build up my career in international education and business-diplomacy. In 2008, I traveled to Israel thanks to the generosity of Taglit Birthright. Later, I spent six weeks studying the Sociology of Public Health on a Pitzer College summer program in Costa Rica. After graduating with Honors in Political Studies from Pitzer, in the fall of 2010 I began two years of postgraduate fellowships. First, I lived 10 months serving as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Colombia. Starting in spring 2012, as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar I will spend one year studying Political Economy and advancing education and development in Brazil.
