A Good Review of Colombia's Election Runoff Result

I thought you all might enjoy reading this article from the NY Times:

I think this article fairly depicts the nuances of Colombia's demographic and electoral culture challenges, and for that matter is worth a read for anyone preparing to enter the country.

As you can see, Santos' second-round victory was quite convincing. I understand that youth in Colombia are not so happy about this, as many of them had identified with Santos' opponent, Mockus, as being more representative of modern (i.e., "Green" values)... I only hope that Santos' victory will translate into the perpetuation of wider safety across Colombia, and greater access to development for all Colombians.
